OPEN CALL FOR ISSUE 1:
I DON’T KNOW WHO I AM ANYMORE
The first issue explores fragments of identity and how our sense of who we are is influenced and distorted by liminality, longing, love, loss, escapism, and attempts at reinvention.
It’s split into three chapters exploring:
Romantic desire, limerence, and the way longing can distort who we think we are
The liminal space of endings and the restless need to be elsewhere (uncertainty, escapism + where you go when you don’t fit anywhere)
The idea that identity is never fixed (and how we piece ourselves together through the fragments we find along the way)
We’re looking for submissions of visual art, photography, personal essays, poetry + interviews that fit the theme.
hello@sourmilk.co.uk for any questions
We’re also looking for photographers in (or able to travel to) Manchester to collaborate on the cover image and the main photo story for the issue. As we are currently self-funded, this will be a voluntary, passion-driven project and a chance to create something distinctive together and see it in print :)
Send us an email: hello@sourmilk.co.uk if you’re interested !!

Anyone aged 18+! Although would especially love to hear from queer and trans people, women, and Black, Asian, and other underrepresented ethnic creatives.
-
Visual art, photography, essays, poetry, interviews, short fiction or something that doesn’t fit neatly anywhere else but feels right for the theme
-
Noooo. As long as you own the rights and it feels like it belongs in this issue.
-
I really wish it was. But we are currently self-funding so unable to pay for contributions right now. You’ll, of course, get full credit and a copy of the mag.
